Teacher

Hi! I'm Emily and I am thrilled to be working with the preschool age kids at Nature Together. My eldest has participated in nature school for the last two years and I have seen the resilience, grit, and bravery it has encouraged, as well as the knowledge and love of nature. I was born and raised in Mukilteo, but considered myself a "fair weather explorer" until having kids. 

Since having kids, I have realized the saying is true- there is no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing. Getting outside is our go-to and we love talking about the flora and fauna as we go, whether it's a walk around our neighborhood, a tromp on a trail, biking, or playing on the beach.

Growing up I babysat and nannied. When I started undergrad, the plan was to be an elementary teacher. Life led me to a degree in dietetics and a masters in functional and biochemical nutrition. I took a hiatus from being a dietitian to teach English to infants through elementary aged kids in Spain for a year, which reignited my love of teaching. Having kids has then furthered this love and reminded me of how important it is to teach them young how to be good stewards. I'm delighted to have the privilege of sharing my love of nature with the preschoolers this year!
